ION

The piece had some strong elements, but i think it was underdeveloped and seemed a bit crammed together. I enjoyed the storyline but i think alot more could have been done with it.

White men with weapons.

This show was 'out of this world' in so many ways. It was a one man performance about the South African army. He played so many different characters all which had there own persona. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Redrum

Redrum was a a promanade performance; the first one i have experianced. Although it had scary elements, i was a little dissapointed. The plot was not clear enough,i think if i was given a brief outline before hand i would have understood it more.

Clockwork orange.

Storyline was fantastic and some really strong acting was in place, However the technical side of this media orientated interpritation of the classinc film was not as strong as it could have been. I think given a few more days rehearsal the play would have been a real hit. All in all a good effort.

Fiddler on the roof.

A modern interpritation on the classic musical. A great production from the third year drama students. Great singing, dancing and acting. The cast showed real star quality.

Under milkwood.

A visually and audibly fantastic show. The show was all spoken as if it was on a radio station. So there was no real story to be seen, just heard. It worked fantasticaly the abstract story mixed with the fantastic comedy of the drunk sound effects girl worked very well and created an entertaining piece of drama.

Monologue and Landscape.

Not exactly my favourite show however, Landscape i did enjoy the acting was good and there was real feeling behind every word. Not a terrible show but monologue could have been played with a little bit more expression.

Avenue Q

Fun filled and exciting from the off. I was smiling all the way through, The songs, which are full of puns keep the musical entertaining for all ages. Great show.

300 word review of Others.

As soon as i saw the title of the play, i thought the piece was going to be a creepy ghost story and i was scared to walk into the theatre; However i was pleasently suprised when i was welcomed into a very warm atmosphere, from the second that i took my seat i felt at ease the actors were on stage already and i  felt like this was going to be something i would enjoy. The play used a wide variety of conventions to help put across the story in an imaginative and abstract way. lot was about a theatre group who were asking the public to fill out a questionaire asking them personal questions. They would then each find a person to be their 'Other'. Each member had an other who they would represent and tell the story of throughout.the piece. The use of movement and live music was an added convention which wasnt necissaraly vital to the piece but was something which made the performance shine that little bit brighter. The four person company worked fantastically together especially the three females. There were comic moments and moments where i wanted to cry the highs and the lows casued a mixed reaction throughout the audience but i personally thought it was a piece of art which captured the hearts of most. I think the idea behind the story was to give an outlook into other people's lives ( people who we wouldn't usually think about) They told the story of a girl who was in prison and a ladie of other ethnicity. It showed how people are predgudice against others because they are not the same as us. A very creative and clever piece and i hightly recomend it fot others to see.
